Marta Kagan mentioned “real time reviews” scaring the pants of many brands. I think if you are building your brand from the product up, there is nothing to be afraid of. It would be exciting to actually put the reviews right next to the product itself. So you can not only share what people are saying about the company, but what people are saying about the products on your site!
Drew McLellan mentioned “as the economy slowly recovers customers are going to reward those brand marketers who were sharing content with no strings attached.” For those spending a lot of energy on free content, they can only hope and pray that is true. There is no conclusive data to prove this though - so intuitively you would think that’s true.
Jason Falls shares that Twitter will become a common “communications utility”, I definitely agree. It will be as integrated into the marketing strategy as emails and newsletters. Except Twitter is free to deploy, where as emails are costly. He also mentioned that though its always been about “conversational marketing”, people might actually get its importance now.
Jeffrey Garu sums up the general sentiment that “2010, retailers will become more serious about measuring social media’s ROI”.
Ravit Lichtenberg made the bold claim that “women will rule social media.” But she is not alone, many articles say that women are natural “community managers” and the ideal make up to nurture communities online.
