Best Buy Cares More About Press Than Community

Mashables highlighted Best Buy’s fanpage as an example of black friday social media at it’s best.

I’ll be honest, I was impressed by their creative ways of letting the customers know they were hear to help them choose gifts. Everything from Secret Santa to Twelpforce Carolers who are available via chat to help at any time.

Sadly, I believe Best Buy’s efforts were more for show than actual community building and offering a better customer service experience.

Putting up fancy apps and not communicating with your 1 million plus fans isn’t really the definition of curating a community.
