Twicco: Twitter’s Little Sister with the Shopping Addiction
Playful and Pink, Twicco is the Japanese subsidiary of Twitter. Though very similar to its parent website, Twicco has been used as a monetization playground for Twitter. For example, there are ads in the feed, and more recently, Twitter has announced that they will be experimenting with paid premium accounts. One of the benefits will be access to restricted super accounts.

The Japanese audience is more much comfortable intermixing their shopping, internet, and mobile experiences, so they are an ideal focus group for this new frontier for Twitter.
At a recent conference, Twitter’s CEO, Evan Williams, silenced the ongoing criticism that Twitter is slow to turn on it revenue-generating engines by announcing that the ads in feed model for revenue generation would be coming to the U.S. version of Twitter soon!
